The Kazova textile workers, who for four months have not
been given wages, seniority or notice and were thrown out of work
on 31 January and have not been able to contact their bosses gath-
ered in front of Sisli mosque at 1 pm on 19 June. They put on
smocks and opened a banner with the words “We will not let the
bosses of Kazova Textiles, Umit Somuncu and Mustafa Umut So-
muncu, take away our rights” and chanted the slogan “We don’t
want charity, we want our rights, we won’t let Umit Somuncu take
away our rights, we are workers, we are right, we will win, long live
our Kazova resistance” as they marched towards the resistance tent
set up in front of the factory. Here they made the following press
statement:
“It is four months since the resistance started and 52 days
since the tent was pitched but the bosses are still hiding themselves
away, Gaye Somuncu, who is head of communications at Calik
Holding, has been put in the same category as her father and we
will not stop pressuring her,” they said.
Kazova Workers Carried Out An Action At Gaye So-
muncu’s Workplace
The Kazova textile workers, who were fired by their bosses
Umit Somuncu and Mustafa Umut Somuncu on 31 January with-
out their right to be paid being met, are continuing their actions
aimed at contacting their bosses and gaining their rights. The
workers previously went to their bosses’ house without being able
to contact them; on Wednesday 19 June they visited Calik Hold-
ing for the third time, where Gaye Somuncu, the daughter of
Umit Somuncu, works as director of communications.
