In the face of these developments, at 8 in the morning on Fri-
day 28 June the workers opened a banner proclaiming “THE KA-
ZOVA TRIKOTAJ BOSSES UMIT SOMUNCU AND
MUSTAFA UMUT SOMUNU HAVE STOLEN OUR
LABOUR, OUR BREAD AND THE FRUITS OF OUR
LABOUR AND WE WILL NOT EMERGE FROM THE FAC-
TORY UNTIL WE GET THEM BACK!”, hung it from the third
floor of the factory building and occupied the factory. From above
the workers issued a statement, “We have repeatedly tried to con-
tact our bosses but they have constantly fled from us. At dead of
night they have plundered items from the factory. Repeatedly we
have spoken to Gaye Somuncu but gained no result from this. We
will not come out of here unless the bosses come and give us our
rights,” they said.
As the working day started many workers in the vicinity sup-
ported the action by applauding it. Since 10 the wait has begun.
