Rights Being Taken Away

               On Saturday 22 June the Kazova textile workers, who have
          been resisting for months in a tent in front of their factory but
          have been unable to reach their employers, put up posters about

          their bosses Umit Somuncu and his son Mustafa Umut Somuncu
          failing to pay them for the labour and then fleeing.

               A total of 25 posters were put up in the area of the factory
          and nearby back streets located in Sisli/Bomonti.

               Kazova Textile Workers Carried Out An Action In Front
          Of Calik Holding


               The Kazova textile workers, who were fired by their bosses
          Umit Somuncu and Mustafa Umut Somuncu on 31 January with-
          out their right to be paid wages or be given seniority or notice
          being met, have been continuing their actions for four months
          aimed at contacting their bosses, and on Wednesday 26 June they
          carried out an action in front of Calik Holding, where Gaye So-
          muncu, the daughter of their boss is in charge of communications.


               At half past three the workers came to the company located
          in Zincirlikuyu and opened a banner with the inscription “We
          will not let the bosses of Kazova Textiles, Umit Somuncu and
          Mustafa Umut Somuncu, take away our rights” and chanted the
          slogan “We don’t want charity, we want our rights, we will not let
          Gaye Somuncu take away our rights, we are right, we will win” as
          they came to the place of work. This is from the press statement
