                                    From our Team Coordinator

Has 2021 left you feeling as though you are on the Tilt-a-Whirl and the ride operator is tormenting you
with an extra-long ride? Going round and round, gliding up and then swopping down – when will it
end? There are no definitive answers to all our questions, our frustrations grow and then we find relief
with new promises only to be sent on another spin around the tilt-a-whirl.

But we are a resilient breed, the Sweet Adeline, yes we are. We have explored and discovered
technology to be a great assist during these times. We have found that we need to be grateful for the
small victories, the opportunities that before took for granted. But we have never thrown up our hands,
turned our backs and walked away. And we won’t! Your RMT and chorus leaders are here for you.
We will continue to make plans and we will adjust as needed but we will do everything we can to
provide you with great experiences. I am sure your choruses are doing much of the same, making
          plans and adjusting as needed.

It is not easy for any of us as members of society to navigate this world that we find ourselves in. How
many times have you found yourself asking should I or shouldn’t I? Will they or won’t they? When
can I or even just can I? We too as Sweet Adelines are asking these same questions as we make plans.
I suspect many of you know who Michael Jordan is – one of the best to ever play the game of
basketball. The following is a quote from him, and I believe we all need to subscribe to this thinking.

Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out
how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

So yes, we have faced obstacles and to be sure we continue to face obstacles. But are you going to let
the result of those obstacles be that Sweet Adelines is no longer a part of your life or are you going to
discover that we can still have this hobby that we love so dearly be an integral part of our lives and
          continue to bring us joy?

To quote another great man who contributed to the sport of basketball:

Things turn out the best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.
                                                                   John Wooden

So come on, go for it!
