Valley Chords Chorus
The Valley Chords are still singing and meeting in person in spite of a resurgence of COVID cases in
.
our part of the Upper Valley. We are staying safe by masking and practicing social distancing so haven’t
had any chorus-related illness. The chorus, because of low membership, is in revitalization with the
hope that we can build our numbers when COVID finally allows us to be out and about.
We made the difficult decision not to attend competition and not to submit a video due to ill-ness and
absence of two of our members. Our lead Lead and social media guru Hannah Cerasoli has been absent
for a number of rehearsals due to recent sur-gery but is recovering well if more slowly than we wish.
During her absence, though she has kept up our social media presence and keeps the chorus up to date
with regional happenings. Our hard working Bari and now former President Robyn Jacobs has taken a
short break from the chorus.
In spite of these setbacks, we have been working on a competition package with the coaching and
advice of Karen Rourke and Sally Jeffrey. Karen has been willing to help individual singers by
providing feedback on recordings. The singers have been exchanging record-ings and recording
rehearsals and highly recommend this as a strategy for im-provement of the chorus sound. This has
been especially useful to our new mem-bers and our long distance new bass, Brittany Greenlaw. Our
newest members Emily Simpson, Hilary Linehan, and Brittany have breathed new life into our cho-rus
and we are planning to be active all summer. There is good news that Robyn has been singing and plans
to return to the chorus in June.
We have had our annual meeting and elected new team members. Julie O’Hara will be serving as team
coordinator, Hilary Linehan, a 1 year member in our lead section will be finance coordinator/treasurer,
and Hannah Cerasoli will continue in here role as membership coordinator with a continuing role as our
social media. All of our members have roles to fulfill and with the guidance of Carole Mensing we are
confident we can continue in our joyful role as a Sweet Adelines Chorus. We wish all competitors good
luck in upcoming competition and to being there next year.
