Parent/Student Summary Code
of Student Conduct for
All Grades
Dear Parent or Guardian:
The Kershaw County Board of School Trustees is firmly committed to providing a safe, orderly
environment in all district schools. Our children, teachers, administrators, and our community
deserve a secure climate for learning and working.
Disruption of learning and/or violence in schools will not be tolerated in the Kershaw County
School District. Please rest assured that your school board pledges to support enforcement of
this Code of Student Conduct for the good of all children in our charge. We want our schools
free of discipline problems that plague schools in many other areas of the country.
Your school board needs your support for this very important goal. Our teachers, staff, and
administrators face great challenges when societal problems spill over into the school setting
but they are trained, capable professionals who believe this Code of Student Conduct will assist
them in providing a positive climate for your children.
We urge your support of this Code of Student Conduct and encourage you to discuss the
importance of good behavior at school with your children. The education of your child requires
that school and home work together as partners. The success of school discipline is a joint effort
among home, school, and community. To be successful, we must have your support. When you
think we are right, we need you to back us at home. When you believe we have made an error,
we need you to come to the school and discuss your concerns with us. By working together in
this way, we can achieve the goal we both want- a safe, orderly school in which your child can
receive a quality education.
You can also help us by reading and discussing this Code of Student Conduct with your child. By
returning the enclosed form with your signature, you will clearly indicate your willingness to
work with us in partnership as we provide your child the best education possible.
'
Working together, we will assure safe, orderly schools for all children and the community.
Sincerely,
Dr. James Smith Chairman
Kershaw County School Board of Trustees
