Cardiology Summary
SJHC: A portion of SJHC General Medicine and Geriatric beds are dedicated to Cardio./ Resp. patients; with specialization in
Pacemaker insertion, Echocardiography, Coronary angiography, heart failure, nuclear cardiac imaging pharmacology and cardiac
rehabilitation.
SMH: The Heart and Vascular program provides clinical and academic services which focus on the investigation, prevention and
treatment of heart disease and vascular conditions. The program is comprised of 5 service areas including cardiology,
cardiovascular, vascular, coronary ICU and cardiovascular ICU. Services offered within it include management of coronary artery
disease, congestive heart failure, valve disease, arrhythmias, and vascular diseases. The program also comprises of a cardiac
rehabilitation program and ambulatory clinics for post-acute care follow-up, as well as a Heart Failure clinic. The program sees
8,000 inpatients and 25,000 ambulatory visits per year.
