Patterns

• Cardiology volumes have grown by 2% in
Ontario; both sites have seen a 3-4%
decline over the last 3 fiscal years. SJHC

and SMH make up 2% and 4% of Ontario
market share respectively.

• As a proportion of inpatient volumes,
cardiology makes up 4% of SJHC and 9%
SMH activity

• Top volumes are derived from TC LHIN patients; followed by Central East for SMH and Mississauga
Halton LHIN for SJHC

• The majority of patients (84%) are discharged home with or without support services. SJHC has 9% of
patients being discharged to an Acute Care or Continuing Care facility*; SMH has 12%. When patients are
discharged to other institutions; SJHC refers most frequently to SMH and SMH to Michael Garron
Hospital.

• Providence is referred a minimal number of patients
