Simple Appendectomy (HIG #234) are top
volume drivers
• There is significant heterogeneity in
procedures at both sites as reflected by
sizeable proportions of surgeries categorized
as Other
Day Surgery (ON CACS):
• SJHC performs ~2x more General Surgery
day surgeries than SMH, representing 66%
of activity at SJHC and ~50% at SMH
• Inspection of Digestive Tract (C251), Partial
Inpatient: HIG Descriptions Day Surgery: ON CACS Descriptions
Excision Anus (C254), Hernia Repair (C253)
and Cholecystectomy (C282) drive volumes
at both sites
