What is Our Inpatient & Day Surgery Case Mix
Inpatient (HIG):
• SMH inpatient volumes are driven by
Vitrectomy (HIG #064), Lens
Extraction/Insertion (HIG #051), and Orbital
Intervention (HIG #050).
• SJHC generally does not provide inpatient
ophthalmology care.
Day Surgery (ON CACS):
• 92% of SMH’s ophthalmology procedures are
provided as day surgery.
• Vitrectomy/Retinal Release (C064) make up
the vast majority of cases at SMH, followed by
Inpatient: HIG Descriptions Day Surgery: ON CACS Descriptions
Cataract Removal/Lens Insertion (C060).
• All Ophthalmology cases done at SJHC are
done on an outpatient basis, with most (93%)
procedures being Cataract Removal/Lens
Insertion (C060).
