Growing up, I was very fortunate that my parents educated themselves about the
benefits of health insurance. They understood how important it was to think of the
future, to protect themselves, and to ensure my brother and I were taken care of should
something happen to them.
Sadly, my dad passed away, but we were very thankful for the health insurance he
set up. Rather than stressing about finances and paying bills, our family was able to
be together to grieve and learn what life would be like without him. In addition, my
mom, my brother and his family, and my family are all prepared for the future so
that when it happens, we can spend time in the hospital or grieve depending on the
health situation that arises. Being with family is very important and living life to
its fullest—without undue stress—helps our longevity.
