A RENEWABLE
FUTURE MUST
Respect the Past
renda Hehr, CEO of Summit Indigenous Ventures, has traded her cowboy boots
and horses for high heel shoes and boardrooms. Growing up on a farm in central
Alberta has taught her that hard work is essential to get to where you want to be
B and helping with your community is an essential part of that hard work. She has
always helped within her family and her community through the local 4-H club, sports teams,
rodeo events, and other volunteer work. Through hard work and diligence, Brenda obtained her
Bachelor of Commerce degree via correspondence.
By the time Brenda was 16 years old, she discovered she loved working in Marketing, Promotions,
and Sales with her Dad at the Alberta and Canadian Limousine Association. Since then she has
worked with companies such as Disney Canada, promoting and selling their exclusive line of
sports wear, and a national TV channel with their Sales and Marketing Department.
When Brenda and her business partner decided that Indigenous people were
unrepresented both in the workforce and in training, they started a company that not
only hires and trains Indigenous People, but also works with numerous post-secondary
educational institutions to ensure that Indigenous and Non-Indigenous students are
learning about Indigenous culture and history. The recent discovery of the location of
the Canadian residential school children has made it essential that we all learn about
this People’s history, to ensure these types of atrocities do not occur again.
Brenda uses her hard work and diligence to inspire those around her to help take
Summit Indigenous Ventures to the next level. While keeping one foot firmly rooted in
respecting Indigenous history, Summit continues to build partnerships and agreements
with companies in the renewable energy sector.

One agreement that she has currently signed is with Hercules
Electric Vehicles, which gives Summit exclusive rights to the
Hercules vehicles throughout Canada as well as five U.S. states. This
opportunity not only brings a new alternative electric vehicle to
market, but it will also give First Nation people the opportunity for
full-time permanent employment because this agreement stipulates
that the first three dealerships must be in under-served communities.
Brenda and her team are excited for this amazing opportunity.
Brenda is a strong leader, and with her inspirational and energetic
team, they will overcome every obstacle to continue building a great
Canadian company that focuses on the future of renewable resources
with consideration of events that have come before. This combination of
drive for the future and respect for the past will take Summit to the peaks
of success!
