LTHC and COORDINATED ENTRY
Along with the end of the LTHC Homelessness Services
Coordinated entry works transitional program came a new system that attempts to
provide all individuals with fair and equal access to hous-
like a funnel, ing and assistance. This new system, called the coordinated
connecting people entry process, works by merging the federally-funded orga-
nizations in the county that then work collaboratively to help
experiencing those in need. Under coordinated entry, a person seeking help

ing necessary housing and other services.

may begin in a different place, they all undergo the same
them to access safe, assessments and go through the same process of being
secure, and sustainable paired with support tailored to their specific situations
and needs. The coordinated entry process prioritizes individ-

eligible to receive assistance so those seeking help do not have
to undergo screenings to start the process. The coordinated
entry process was put into place to ensure that the service agencies in Tippecanoe county are housing-oriented and
people-centered. Providing speedy and fair housing to people experiencing homelessness is the main priority, and the
coordinated entry process helps LTHC work toward its goal of putting an end to homelessness.
A common miscon-
ception that impacts
LTHC is that all indi-
viduals and families
who are experiencing
homelessness are in the
same or similar circum-
stances. A continuum
of homelessness can be
helpful in understanding
the different circumstanc-
es and characteristics that
lead to homelessness, as
well as the need for differ-
ent approaches to serving
people at all points on the
continuum. Each end of
the continuum represents
an extreme of some type.
