If You Try To Save Your Life, You Will Die

               Luke 17:33 whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it;

and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

Here we have Jesus saying that if we seek to save our lives we

will die. So if I wear a seat belt hoping to save my life then

actually it will kill me for doing that. Or if I go to the doctor for

preventive medicine, or keep a diet that is healthy, exercise and

do other things to prolong my life it will take my life. Paul said

1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: So we

understand by these scriptures that taking care of yourself is

wrong and will actually kill you.

No, this is not what Jesus was saying and it is not what Paul

meant but if you take the scriptures without spiritual

understanding like so many of you do then the meaning could be

               misunderstood.

Jesus was speaking of repentance. A repentant person lays down

their life of sin, the life that they truly love. This is a cross to our

flesh and the cross Jesus had to bear made it possible for us to

have such a light burden and an easy yoke to over come by the

Holy Spirit we are surrendering to. Paul was only saying that our

requirement for discipleship is spiritual not physical fitness.

We know that eating Right and exercise is very good for our

bodies and is very important for a long life but no matter how

you take care of yourself if you live in sin the wages of sin is
