THE ADMINISTRATOR | 143
Later that night -- looking outside -- sitting in his Jeep while parked in the
Supercenter Parking Lot, it seems like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.
But, Alonzo remains steadfast in his GROWING faith as he retires for day with a
prayer:
ALMIGHTY FATHER, PLEASE, LOOK UPON ME WITH MERCY.
FORGIVE MY TRANSGRESSIONS AND INADEQUACIES,
KNOWINGLY OR NOT, IN YOUR MIGHTY NAME, AND THROUGH
THE INTERCESSION OF YOUR SON, JESUS CHRIST. AMEN.
Suddenly, Alonzo’s smartphone buzzes. He glares at the Caller ID and takes
the call. “What’s happening, Willie?”
“Hey, thought I let you know I have arranged for two honeys to meet us
tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night.”

Having freshened up, Alonzo returns to his SUV -- waiting -- to hear from
Willie. Meanwhile, he turns the radio on to one of the pre-program stations. He
catches the tail end of an 80’s R&B song that prompts him to gently move his head to
the beat.
