148 | N. PAUL ONUZURUIKE
Stepping forward, “Good morning, Officer.”
“Do you have a cell phone on you, Sir?”
“No, left it in my vehicle.”
“Very well. Kindly step this side, Sir ...” glares at the scanner. “... Please, empty
your pockets.”
Alonzo follows the Officer’s instructions, takes off his shoes, and unbuckles
and places his brown belt and billfold into the gray plastic container.
The THIRD FLOOR ELEVATOR opens, and Alonzo steps out and takes a left,
and ahead, an inscription which says:
“U.S. TRUSTEE MEETING ROOMS 363, 365 – 368.”
Later -- MEETING ROOM 366 -- inside, a representative of the Trustee calls
Alonzo’s name. Alonzo gets on his feet, walks up and takes a seat next to his attorney
-- MIKE PHILIPS, 44, bi-spectacle, a connoisseur of Jurisprudence, and wearing a
conservative chalk-stripe suit.
“Regarding Case 1-5-3-8-- ...” and swearing Alonzo to Oath, “... Sir, could you
please raise your right hand?” The TRUSTEE REPRESENTATIVE continues, “Do you
swear under Oath the testimony you give today is the truth under penalty of
perjury?”
“Yes, I do.”
