FTER THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF HIS TWO-WEEK NOTICE AT
University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), Alonzo’s excited about
transitioning to his new role and assignment at Lafayette, Louisiana. That
Saturday morning -- the Moving company arrives -- at his Monroe home as
scheduled. The four-man crew dissembles, packs, crates, and moves his household
goods and personal effects onto their ten-thousand-pound monster truck. Alonzo’s
at awe as the crew efficiently disassembles and packs -- in an orderly fashion --
placing the most difficult items first in order of priority for packing and wrapping.
First, smallest items from the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, main living room area
to the biggest and heavy items such as furniture.
About six hours later, “I need your signature here, Mr. Thomas,” Todd, the
