1. JA AP member updates on the COVID situation
Malaysia / Shanthi
• Everything is happening at once in Malaysia and they are busy catching up on simultaneous
implementation of multiple programs, including ITC.
• ITC is being spread over 9 workshops (2 days per workshop) to accommodate new
regulations.
• Mental health remains the “elephant in the room” for many. Students are back in school
and there is a struggle for everyone to catch-up. Teachers are stressed. The challenge is
how to reach student numbers under these unique circumstances.
Guam / Pinki and Beth
• Beth expressed her thanks to everyone who is participating in and preparing for JA AP COY.
• Pinki updated that JA Guam is in the process of getting their Company Program up and
going.
• COVID-19 testing capacities are improving – unfortunate that some youth have been
infected. There is a fear about returning to school in the Fall. Reported prior to recent
uptick in cases
• The upside is that parent-teacher engagement should be improving as students get set to
learn from home.
