• JA Guam to engage with Home Schooling Association as many families are opting for home-
schooling in light of current circumstances.
• The government may provide funding to help ensure students internet access and
transform schools into “Wi-Fi hubs.”
• JA Guam remains cautiously optimistic in general and is hoping to engage the
homeschooling network in Guam as well.
Vietnam / Linh
• Vietnam is experiencing a new wave of COVID cases.
• Schools have been open for most of the past several months and are currently on summer
holidays.
• The challenge is that new lockdown measures may affect workshops and implementation
of programs.
• JA Vietnam continues to work with MOE to help get students caught up.
Thailand / Parry
• Schools in Thailand are opened and back to normal.
• JA Thailand will be fully operational from next week onward.
• Sponsorship had slowed down over the past few months but recently they are noticing early
signs of a comeback. They have signed another 3-year sponsorship contract with Bangkok
Bank and are excited about other projects brought forth by the ROC including Microsoft,
Deloitte, and HP.
India / Dinu
• There was a successful online bootcamp recently in India (Government schools in Delhi)
with higher student enrollment than expected.
• Company Program is being rolled out, although schools will be closed until the end of
August (at least).
They are in talks on a webinar and workshop series around ethics, entrepreneurship, and
innovation – this involves training some 5,000 teachers!
Turkmenistan / Arslan
• The situation in Turkmenistan is a bit strange as no official cases have been reported, but
WHO is concerned about a new unknown respiratory disease affecting the lungs.
Corresponding steps have been taken.
• Mask wearing is mandatory, flights and travel are affected, mass gatherings are banned.
