• Schools are on vacation until September and JA staff are working from home.
• They are in the process of moving programs to online iterations.
• International Youth Day was a success and more online webinars are being planned.
Korea / Moonhwan
• Korea is hosting a big event – a new JA Company Program. 100 teams consisting of over
400 high school students are enrolled for this coming weekend.
• Junior AI Academy, also sponsored by Samsung, involves teacher training. Over 50 high
school teachers took part.
• Another new program – “Smart Farm” has been developed for disabled students in
conjunction with Microsoft.
Indonesia / Rob
• Not much has changed in Indonesia since the last call: about 1,500-2,500 new cases per day.
• Schools look as though they will remain closed until December, though Bali has recently
opened.
• In the meantime, online courses have become the new norm. Zoom continues to be the
platform of choice for most programs.
• They are also looking at new partners and funding sources. There seems to be a progressive
mindset generally amongst potential partners and they are quite understanding.
WhatsApp is one such partnership.
• They are working with 55 key opinion influencers (KOLs) in the social media space to help
showcase products from JA alumni from the Company Program.
Hong Kong / Vivian

• Hong Kong is experiencing its 3 wave of COVID.
• MOE has just announced that many school programs will be conducted online – this has
implications for JA Hong Kong.
• Two major programs - The Schools Challenge and the semi-final for the Company Program
have just been completed and went smoothly.
• School recruitment is ongoing – JAHK is trying to convince schools to join JA programs online.
Schools seem receptive and understanding of the “new normal” of online program
implementation.
