The final of the Cork Zone Inter Club Champi-
onship for the Frances Cody Perpetual Trophy
now, in its 15th year, was played in the S.M.A.
Hall, Wilton, Cork between the Douglas Community School
Bowls Club and Sacred Heart B.C.
The format was as in previous rounds consisting of two From
sessions with the Singles/Triples games in the first session and Michael
the Pairs/Fours in the second session. Douglas Community
School B.C. defeated Sacred Heart B.C. to win the Title for the O’Shaugnessy
second time since the competition was inaugurated. On the way Cork Zone Public
to the final D.C.S. defeated Midleton B.C., Crosshaven B.C. and Relations Officer
Watergrasshill B.C. The Sacred Heart beat B.E.D.A.,
Grange/Frankfield and Ballincollig GAA B.C.
The Umpires on duty for the final were John Curran and Michael A. O’Regan. Con-
gratulations to both teams on a sporting and enjoyable game of bowls. The medals
were presented by Hazel Foley the Cork Zone Convener and the Frances Cody Perpet-
ual Trophy was presented by Garrett Cody to Michael J. O’Shaughnessy, the Club Cap-
tain.

Watergrasshill Emerge On Top
St. Vincent’s Bowls Club staged the final session of their annual licensed Triples Com-
petition for the Fr. John Cleary Perpetual Trophy in the C.B.S. Hall. The event was once
again a great success and attracted an entry of 94 teams from all the leading bowls
clubs over a wide area in the Cork Zone. The Tournament was won by Watergrasshill
B.C. who overcame the challenge of Crosshaven in the final.
The Umpires on duty for the final session were David Foley and Albert Ruxton.
The prizes were presented to the winners by Mairead Quinn the Club Captain and Rev.
Fr. Jack Harris presented the Perpetual Trophy to Séan O’Riordan, the Skip of the Wa-
tergrasshill team.
