Ireland complete the Team Double
The opening round of the “A” team championships started well for both England and Ireland. The
English beat the Welsh by 52 shots to 23,helped by a 20 - 3 result from Sam Harvey, Peter Hore,
Alex Kley & Olly Hipkiss. Meanwhile the Irish were demolishing the Scots 58 - 14, including a 17
- 1 from Norman Rutledge, Malachy Og Trainor, Ian Hobson & Adam Rankin.

In the second round England faced a Scots team stinging from their opening round result. In
the end the Scots were unlucky to lose 31 - 43 as they drew two games and won one. For Scotland,
D. Cochrane, W Mair, D Broatch & E. McCuddin chipped in with a 12 - 4 result but the deciding
game and England’s only win was the 22 - 2 result from Malcolm Follis, Stephen Holdsworth,
David Lamb & Emily Thomas. In the other game the Irish were made to work very hard by a de-
termined Welsh team but in the end Ireland won 38 - 30.
In the third round Ireland triumphed over England by 41 shots to 27, with England only winning
one game were once again it was the four of Malcolm Follis, Stephen Holdsworth, David Lamb &
Emily Thomas, who won 8 - 6 in a very tight game.
