The third round saw the Conroy’s facing Scotland’s G. Riley & M. Patterson and it was 7
going to take a miracle to stop the Irish duo from taking the title but this didn’t happen as
the result was never in doubt with the Conroy’s winning 25 - 4.
The other game saw England and Wales fighting it out for second place and it turned out to
be an almighty battle in the end. At the half-way stage of the eighteen ends, England’s Craig
Strong & Jon Pitcher led 10 - 4 and things were looking good. Back came Arwel Morgan & Michael

with just the last end to play. This was completed in mounting excitement but the English Pair held
their nerve and were relieved to score a single for a 14 - 13 victory in a very hard fought game,
giving the English duo the runner-up spot.
