Wymondham make it four titles in a row 11
Wymondham clinched their fourth Breckland League title in style with two maximum
10-0 wins on successive nights to finish the season on a high. The home win against Ban-
ham guaranteed that Wymondham retained the title. Jack Barrett’s triple, with both Andy Jackson
& Roger Steele in impressive form, opened with a 25-9 win while Jon Sparham’s triple won 22-
            11.
The second half saw Debbie Phillips win 26-12 and Andrew Stratton win 20-13 as
Wymondham’s celebrations began for yet another great season. The following night Connaught
“A” visited Wymondham and suffered their heaviest Breckland League defeat for several years.
In the first half Roger Steele, Andy Jackson & Chris Mann won by 26-9 against Owen
Secker and Pat Saunders, Shirley Foster & Debbie Phillips beat Joe Li-Rocchi 19-16. After the
break Brian Saunders, Mark Linsdell & Andrew Stratton won
by 18-14 against Lee Fallows after Linsdell moved to skip after
nine ends when they trailed 11-7.
In the other game Mikey George, Jack Barrett & Jon
Sparham beat Sheila Bragg’s triple 28-15. For many years
Connaught “A” dominated the Breckland League but under the
captaincy of Chris Mann Wymondham has evolved from being
the also-rans to become the undisputed big guns of the
            league.
Mann can be more than pleased with what he has
achieved and it must be a disappointment for Wymondham
that he has made the decision to step down from the captain’s
role at the close of the season. Hingham’s best ever season From
continued as they beat Harling 8-2 with V Hester, T Hewitson Selwyn Goldsmith
& K Thomas winning 27-10 to move within striking distance of
            second placed Connaught “A”.
