FOUR BOWL PAIRS
FOUR BOWL PAIRS
This competition was originally started as a fun game to introduce players who do not normally
play 4 bowl singles, but has turned out to be very competitive. Early rounds had been played 2
weeks previously but we had run out of time to play a final, in which Matthew Keggen & Stephen
Gale played Seamus Whelan & Collin Holland.
It was close all the way to the last end with Matthew & Stephen leading 5-3, with it being
in their opponents favour Collin killed the end. On the replayed end with Seamus covering the
jack for 1 with another bowl possibly counting, Stephen played with weight but failed to dislodge
any bowls. Collin tried to play a blocker which partially obscured the bowls and jack.
Stephen fired with his last
wood which nudged the jack and
Seamus was still undecided if it
was 2 for a draw. Collin bowled
up a drawing shot pushing the
jack and staying to count for 3,
which made them winners of the
competition.
This being sweet revenge
as Matthew & Stephen had
beaten them in the Pairs League.
