Bradwell are Waveney Cup winners
Haddiscoe hosted this season’s
Waveney KO Cup Final which saw
Bradwell celebrate a 14 shot win
against previous winners Broome
who were led by Charlie Archer.
Bradwell made a super start in the
first session of pairs.
Sandra Tungate & Mavis
Squires opened with a 9-7 win
against Broome’s Harold & Hazel
Briggs while John Sargent & Mike
Harvey enjoyed a resounding 15-3
win against Bob Fulcher & Sonia
Williamson.

Cooper, Andy Cooper & Charlie Archer 6-3 but Broome’s Michael Catling, Jenny Catling & Tony Ker-
ley replied with a 9-6 win against Bradwell’s Mike Houghton, Roger Squires & Carol Illingworth. This
left Bradwell holding a 14 point advantage at the break.
The second half began with the pairs back in action and Bradwell’s Sandra Tungate & Mavis
Squires won again beating Bob Fulcher & Sonia Williamson by 9-6. But Broome fared better in the
other game as Harold & Hazel Briggs beat John Sargent & Mike Harvey 7-2.
The final session of pairs was shared as Bradwell’s Mike Houghton, Roger Squires & Carol Illingworth
kept cool to win 10-7 against Janet Cooper, Andy Cooper & Charlie Archer while Broome’s Michael
Catling, Jenny Catling & Tony Kerley won by 10-7 against Bradwell’s Ron Beardall, Tracey King &
Chris Steggles.
It was a superb performance by a Bradwell team who had finished in a mid-table position in
the Waveney League. It has been a great season for Bradwell whose eight man team Bradwell Dy-
namos achieved the double in the Coastal League winning both the Coastal League and Coastal
League Cup. Bradwell has now expanded its membership and has two rollup sessions a week, plus
three teams in the Coastal League and another in the Waveney League. Much of their success is
down to the work of John Sargent assisted by Roger Squires and Christine Steggles.
Coastal Pairs & Triples Comps held at Bradwell
Bradwell hosted both the Coastal Pairs and Coastal Triples competitions. The Coastal Pairs was
won by Bradwell Robins bowlers Brian McKinna, Jenny Howell & Roger Squires with the format al-
lowing three players to share the pairs games. The triples event was won by Woodbastwick’s Keith
Baker, Ray Lamb & Steven Lamb on shot difference ahead of runners-up Jenny Howell, Jean Moore
& Jackie Fortesque of Bradwell Robins when the triples finished level on points. Woodbastwick’s
Norma & Peter Jablonowski and Bradwell’s John Sargent were praised for their work in organising
both events.
Wymondham are Breckland Champs again
Wymondham wrapped up yet another Breckland League title in style as they produced another huge
home win. Harling Griffins were the latest team to suffer defeat at North Wymondham as they slipped
to a 10-0 defeat on points, 124-23 on shots. The first half saw Mary Fisher, John Jeffery & Chris
Mann win 32-9 and Jack Marshall, Andrew Jackson & Jon Sparham win 20-6.
The shots continued to pile up after the break with Hayley Osborne, David Chadwick & Jack
Pye winning 35-5 and Steve Easter, Melvyn Barker & Debbie Sparham winning 37-3. The battle for
second place continued with Connaught “A” winning 7-3 at home to Harling Unicorns. That leaves
them one point ahead of rivals Carleton Rode with a game in han
