In Group “C”, Turvey (Keith Cock-

ings) were on 6 pts after 3 games
and whilst they lost their last game
to Clophill, George Savage, they still
won the group thanks to a large win
over Slip End. Clophill also went
through as well.
In Group “D”, the Maulden
(Peter Crump) were leading the way
but everyone in the group were

games but after a final draw with
Toddinton (Ann Denton) both teams went through Quarter Finals.
In their QF Colmworth/Cotton End (P Ball) faced Ann Denton’s Toddington team. After 2
ends the score was level 2-2 but C/CE eased away to 6-2 after 5 ends and after 7 ends C/CE
they won the game 8-4. Turvey (A Hatton) faced Clophill (G Savage), two strong rinks but Clophill
took a 3 on first end and were 7-2 up by the 6th and a 2 on the last end saw them win 9-2. Keith
Cocking led his Turvey team against Barton, led by Carol Still.
The Turvey rink were 4-0 up after 3 ends but Barton were back in the match on the 4th
picking up 3 shots only to lose 5 shots in
last 3 ends as Turvey won 9-3. Maulden
(Peter Crump) played defending Cham-
pions Barton, led by Neil Rixon. How-
ever, the defending champions were in
trouble at 6-1 down after 5 ends but a 3
on the 6th to make 6-4 was as close as
they got with Maulden taking the final
end to win 7-4
Finalists Colmworth/Cotton End
In the Semi Final, Keith Cockings Finalists Colmworth/Cotton End
Turvey team faced the Maulden, led by Peter Crump. Turvey were 3-1 after 2 ends but the
Maulden then grabbed 4 shots to lead 5-4. They followed this up with 5 more shots on the next
3 ends to ease away to a 10-4 victory.
In the other semi-final, Colmworth/Cotton End led by Skip Peter Ball versus George Sav-
age’s Clophill team. C/CE were 5-0 up after 3 ends but Clophill rallied to pick up 5 shots on the
next three ends levelling the match at 5-5 with just the final end to play. This turned out to be a
disaster for Clophill with Colmworth/Cotton End scoring a stunning six to win 11-5
In the Final Colmworth/Cotton End (B. Johnson, H. Ball, S. Macdonald, P. Ball faced
Maulden (Jan Webbley, Jim Greaves, Mike Conoly Hook, Peter Crump). On the first end C/CE
drew first blood and led 2-0. On end 2, End2. Jim is onto the jack for Maulden and is holding but
Patricia clips the jack to the C/CE woods to nick 2 for a 4-0 lead. A similar story on end three
saw C/CE lead 6-0. On end four Maulden got onto the scoreboard with a single.
End 5 was a somewhat scrappy end this and Peter Crump pushes a C/CE bowl in with his
last trying to draw around the short bowls and the lead went to 7-1. Keeping into the match
Harold Ball uses the Maulden wood to rest on and hold but Maulden have the back covered
and Peter Crump pushes the jack to them to take 2 shots 7-3
On end seven Betty just overdraws as does Jan but when Mike plays his first, they are
down but the Maulden woods are all sitting just behind the head he gets another just behind as
Sue is a little tight and goes inside the head. Peter hits the head and the jack trickles through
they now hold 5 at least Patricia tries to run some woods out but hits the short wood Peter draws
his last in to make it 6 shots. Patricia is in trouble here as she runs at the head trying to remove
a few is wide and Maulden grab 6 shots to win 9-7 Well done to Maulden on their win and to ev-
eryone who took part what a great game to end the Season on.
