               A “Final” was then played between
               East  Hanningfield  and  Sutton  St                                                           9
               Edmunds  over  four  ends.  East
               Hanningfield were the victors by six
               shots to one and three ends to one.
                     In the Inter County Champi-
               onships  the  Runners  Up  were
               Essex, who accumulated 18 points
               from a possible total of 24. Cam-
               bridgeshire were the winners with
               20 points and, whilst there was no
               prize  as  such,  they  claimed  the
               bragging  rights  for  their  victory!
               There  was  also  a  Target  Bowls
               competition which was won by Alan
               Hare of Letchworth with 17 points
               and Paul Bax (East Hanningfield)                  Winners Steve Killington, Paul Bax

                     It was an excellent day’s bowling and so congratulations to Stowmarket Town SMBC
               as they also raised about £300 for the Alzheimers’ Society. A special thanks is due to: Mal-
               colm Bailey and his team; Dave Mallion for recording the results; the Umpire (Malcolm) and;
               all who provided the tea and biscuits throughout the day.  If anyone in the Stowmarket area
               would like to know more about Short Mat Bowls, Malcolm Bailey will be only too pleased to

                                                                   This event was hosted by East Hanning-
                                                                   field  SMBC  at  east  Hanningfield  Village
                                                                   Hall. Twenty teams took part in four groups
                                                                   of five. Each game was played over seven
                                                                   ends or for 35 minutes, which was ever
                                                                   came  first,  except  the  final,  which  was
                                                                   played over eight ends with no time limit.
                                                                         At the Quarter Final stage, Willows 1
               beat Falcon Blue, Island 2 beat Hatfield Peverel, Falcon Whites beat Willows 2 and the 3 Gs
               beat East Tilbury. In the Semi Finals, Falcon White beat Island 2 (Christine and Paul Reed
               and Tony Slater Island SMBA and Dave Woods on loan from East Hanningfield.). The 3Gs
               (Greg, son, Rob, father and grandparents Joan and John) beat Willows 1. A very competitive
               final was won by the 3Gs.
                     It was an excellent competi-
               tion and thanks are due to Steve
               Killington  for  organising  it  and
               Peter Fautley, Paul Cairns, Paul
               Bax and Dave Woods for manning
               the kitchen and keeping everyone
               refreshed.
