Why the big reduction you may ask? But the answer is quite
simple and two VERY IMPORTANT things have come together

to make a significant difference.

1) Until relatively recently most advertisers were generally “one-off’s” or short
runs who’s payments were not regular enough to be relied on to help cover the
excess cost of printing and posting the magazine, which I covered for a number
of years.

The fantastic long term support of both Verde and Wygreen has been great but
with Thomas Taylor and Drakes Pride joining in as significant regular advertisers,
this has certainly changed the financial outlook. Previously, only annual sub-
scriptions and my financial support has basically kept the magazine going,

helped by those wonderful subscribers who made extra donations.

2) another really great factor has been the swap from more expensive to a much
cheaper on-line printing company. This combined with the regular advertisers
has made a very significant difference to the finances of the magazine, hence

The magazine is certainly NOT a commercial venture, I am the only member of
staff and I certainly don’t get paid! The magazine is solely produced to promote
our sport and the activities of clubs and the various national governing bodies,
at least those who can be bothered in our publicity shy sport. Yes, in case you
are wondering, this is a big risk or an even bigger gamble, relying on continued
advertising and I will see what the future holds.
