County Mixed Fours
7 County Mixed Fours
Jenny Walker, Donna Lamb, David
Lamb and Keith Cooke won three
of their four matches to top the
group of just five fours who en-
tered this season's county mixed
fours competition.
A round robin decided places
one to five with six points proving
enough for Cooke's four. A 9-5 win
in their first match against Elaine
Willies, Jean Woods, Jason
Woods and Simon Willies set them
on their way as they then romped
to an 18-4 win against Diane Quadling, Dave Quadling, Elaine Oatway and Bob Oatway.
Having sat out in the third session Cooke's four still headed the table and after the fourth
session was completed where they beat Hayley Stratton, Roger Steele, Billie Barker and Melvyn
Barker 6-3 they had done enough to win the title with a session to spare. Going into the final ses-
sion Barker's four held second place still with four points but relied on results going their way which
they did fortunately.
Cooke was sacrificed as skip in their last match against Debbie Pye, Morgan Warnes, Simon
Warnes and Jack Pye as they lost 4-6 but this result was not enough for Pye's four to take second
as Barker's four also had the same shot difference and therefore shots for came into play with
Barker on 29 and Pye on 27. Ryan Fox also collected his U18 trophy on the same day as the only
entrant this season.
City League Championships
City League Championships
The city of Norwich league championships took place with the triples the
first to be played which saw Avril Walker, Diane Boswell and Mike
Boswell from Windows fend off opposition from Horsford BC's David
Knights, Morgan Warnes and Simon Warnes and County Council's Owen
Cranston, Lewis Cranston and Rob Cranston to lift the title.
The singles was played at Taverham, which saw Deaf Sports claim
their first singles championship courtesy of Chris Mann who recovered
from a first round defeat to Horsford BC's Simon Warnes to win his re-
maining four matches in dominating fashion.
Mann's final match against Lewis Cranston of County Council who
was unbeaten till that point, was to de-
cide who was going to emerge as
the overall winner.
The pairs was played at Jarrolds,
which saw Horsford BC's Debbie Pye
and Jack Pye retain their title beating Diane and Mike Boswell
of Windows 5-3 in the final. Their other results included a 10-1
win over Heroes Jane James and a 5-5 draw against
Costessey's Wendy Tweed. There had been complaints in how
the qualifying had been done which had seen players win all
their games but still did not go through to finals night.
The top two form teams in the city league met in the final
of the city shield at St Faith's home of club Horsford Heroes.
It was Horsford BC who won on all four mats on the night but
were made to work hard for their victory with three close wins. Debbie & Jack Pye
