        is in writing, and even if the employee is a sophisticated,



        management level person.


               The most important rules, at a glance, are:


              Employees must be paid weekly or biweekly,


               within six days of the end of the pay period,


               meaning if a pay period ends on a Friday, the


               employee must be paid no later than the Thursday


               of the following week.


              Employees who are exempt from overtime laws


               (see above) may be paid monthly, if they so


               choose, but still must be paid timely.


              You may not deduct money from your employees’


               paychecks except as specifically authorized under


               the law.  You may, of course, withhold taxes and


               pre-tax payments for benefit plans, but should be
