personal data. She had a colorable claim of disability
discrimination, and we discovered a significant employer
liability for overtime, but after the case settled it became
clear that she never would have called us if she wasn’t so
upset about the lack of sympathy for her health scare and
her phone. Dealing with those two issues differently in
the first place would have cost her employer virtually
nothing.
An employee who is motivated to find a basis for a
lawsuit can cost your business significant amounts of
money if they are successful. Moreover, even a baseless
lawsuit is expensive, distracting, and simply not what
most business owners want to spend their valuable time
dealing with.
