"It is simply
not enough."
Claiming that the University of
Waterloo is taking mental health on
campus seriously is like saying a
house fire is being effectively put
out by throwing buckets of water at
it. Often times students have to wait
upwards of a month to see their
counselor or psychiatrist. These long
wait times are totally unacceptable
and can have tragic consequences.
In 2017, a student jumped from
Claudette Millar Hall; ending their
own life. And yet this university still
isn't taking this problem seriously
enough. In 2017 a committee came
forward with 36 recommendations
to improve mental health on campus.
As of November 1st 2018 only 44%
of those recommendations have
been implemented.
