               461. Wireless Access Controller


                       Provide details on wireless access controllers you are requesting for next year.  Do not
                       include access point licenses on this item.


               462. Wireless AP Licenses

                       Applicants purchasing a piece of eligible Internal Connections equipment may also be
                       required to purchase a license of a year or more to have the right to use eligible software
                       that is essential to make the equipment operate. Such multi-year licenses can be eligible if
                       they are supporting eligible components used to distribute high-speed broadband
                       throughout school buildings and libraries. While there is no cap on the number of years
                       such a license can cover, remember that Category Two funding is subject to the Category
                       Two five-year budget. USAC will approve up to five year license for funding support in a
                       single year.


               465. Wireless LAN-Antennas

                       An antenna is a device for transmitting and/or receiving radio frequency signals.
                       Antennas and related components such as satellite dishes used for eligible purposes are
                       eligible for discount if they are priced separately on a contract and sold separately.
                       Antennas used for radio, TV, and cable TV are not eligible. Antenna masts are eligible,
                       but not large antenna towers.





               470. Firewall Appliance

                       Firewall services and components separate from basic firewall protection provided as a
                       standard component of a vendor’s Internet access service are eligible for E-rate
                       discount.  Applicants must make sure that the bidder cost allocates the ineligible portion
                       related to virus protection, content filtering, DDOS, or any other ineligible portion of the
                       firewall service.


                       A firewall is a hardware and software combination or cloud based service that sits at the
                       boundary between an organization’s network and the outside world, and protects the
                       network against unauthorized access or intrusions.


               471. Firewall Service
