A firewall is a hardware and software combination or cloud based service that sits at the
boundary between an organization’s network and the outside world, and protects the
network against unauthorized access or intrusions.

475. Routers

Routers are switching devices that can act as an interface between two networks and
connect different segments, such as departments or floors in a building. Functionally,
routers select the routing path for traffic. Routers are eligible broadband internal
connections.

480. UPS-Network Equipment

UPS equipment is only eligible to the extent it supports eligible equipment. Applicants
must provide a listing of all equipment that will be supported by this UPS.

481. Network Racks or Cabinets

Provide the eligible use % in the notes section.

EXAMPLES:

• A rack that will only support eligible cabling, the eligible use is 100%.
• A cabinet that will house 2 servers and 4 network switches, the eligible use is 4/6
or 67% eligible use.

DESCRIPTION:

A rack is a metal supporting framework for mounting cables, equipment, and/or wires. A
cabinet is an enclosure for equipment,terminating cables, connection devices, and/or
wires.

ELIGIBILITY:

Racks are eligible only to the extent that the components they contain are eligible. A
surge protector provided as an integral component of a rack or cabinet, without a
separately identifiable cost can be included in the cost of the rack or cabinet, but a
separately priced surge protector is not eligible.
