ORGAN AND BONE MARROW DONOR LEAVE
Employees who choose to donate an organ or bone marrow to another person, and who
have been employed by the Company for at least a 90-day period immediately
preceding the beginning of leave, are eligible for paid organ and bone marrow donor
leave. Organ donors will be provided with up to 30 business days of leave in any one-
year period. Bone marrow donors will be provided with up to five (5) business days of
leave in any one-year period, calculated from the date the employee’s leave begins.
You must provide the Company with written verification of the need for donation leave.
The verification must state that you are a bone marrow or organ donor and that the
donation is medically necessary.
Employees who request leave for bone marrow donation are required to use up to five
(5) days of their accrued sick leave and/or vacation time, if any, for this purpose.
Employees who request leave for organ donation are required to take up to two weeks
of accrued paid sick leave and vacation time, if any, for this purpose.
Organ and bone marrow donation leave cannot be taken concurrently with FMLA or
CFRA leave.
BEREAVEMENT/COMPASSIONATE LEAVE
We understand that the death or terminal illness of a family member is a time when you
will want to be with your family. Should you lose a member of your immediate family,
you will be allowed time off to help you attend to your obligations and commitments.
You can also use all or part of this time to spend time or provide care for a terminally ill
member of your immediate family. Reasonable time off without pay will be granted by
your supervisor as the location of the funeral and closeness of the relationship dictates.
Introductory and temporary employees are not eligible for paid Compassionate Leave.
Employees on leaves of absence are not entitled to Compassionate Leave. Regular full
time employees (working a minimum of 30 hours per week) who have successfully
completed the Introductory Period will be provided paid Compassionate Leave as
follows:
In the event of a death or terminal illness of an immediate family member
(spouse or domestic partner, child, sister, brother, mother, father or legal
guardian) eligible employees may receive up to five (5) days of paid leave to
make appropriate arrangements and attend services; or provide care for the
terminally ill family member.
In the event of a death or terminal illness of another family member
(grandparents or immediate family members of your spouse or domestic partner)
eligible employees may receive up to three (3) days of paid leave to make
