Section 4 | Benefit Provider Selection Process
Describe your firm’s process for selecting benefit providers. Identify any partnerships or other
relationships that may be valuable to the School, as well as any potential conflicts of interest and/or
subsidiaries of your firm. Include a description of your firm’s presence in the marketplace to
negotiate rates and policy terms with providers.
Provider Selection Process
Burnham Benefits’ core service package includes a rigorous market evaluation of your employee
benefit program. After conferring with Francis Parker School, we will tailor our marketing bid and
seek appropriate market quotes, including fully funded, partially-self funded and self-insured
options, plan design alternatives and consumer-driven health care products. We will position the
school’s risk in the best possible light to obtain the most competitive carrier pricing.
Burnham Benefits approaches markets specific to the client’s requirements. The criteria which are
followed include:
Identifying the qualified markets through pre-screening
Clearly stating the goals of the bid request to qualified markets
Reviewing geographical needs and access for employee/members
Reviewing network discounts
Marketing and negotiating rates and plans
Communicating to the client and adhering timelines
Request appropriate performance guarantees
AM Best, Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Services are all reviewed regularly to
ensure that the carriers put in place are well respected and properly funded.
Education Sector Partnerships
As a result of Burnham’s specialized practice in educational services, we standardly access markets
with which only sector-based consultants are familiar. We built partnerships with trusts,
