Not only does deep breathing release negative energy from your body, but it can also
improve your posture, somewhat. Physiologically, the human body performs quite
differently when breathing deep than it does when breathing regularly or with short,
shallow breaths.
Deep breathing actually requires the skeletal system to straighten up somewhat in
order to get the breath all the way in and then all the way back out of the lungs. If you
breathe this way regularly, your spine will naturally straighten itself out, somewhat.
This, in turn, will result in many added bonuses in your day-to–day life. You will
experience back pain less often, your feet won’t ache as much, and best of all, having
good posture will enable you to get a better night’s sleep. And all of us can certainly
use a good night’s sleep. Don’t you agree?
Still another positive side effect to breathing deep is that it helps your body to relax.
This is especially useful when doing visualisation exercises as well as in everyday
living. Have you ever thought about what many of us do naturally, if we find
ourselves getting angry or frustrated? We take a few deep breaths. That’s right. We
breathe. Almost immediately we begin to feel a little less anxious and a lot more
relaxed.
Conversely, if a frustrating situation arises and we continue to breathe short shallow
breaths, we are likely to become increasingly agitated. If we do not correct our
breathing right away, there is a real danger of that negativity leading us to a point
where we feel as though we may explode. Instead of releasing negative energy, you
are actually stirring it up somewhat by neglecting to breathe efficiently.
You will find that, for the specific purpose of releasing negativity, the breathing
techniques offered in this workbook will help immensely. You will eventually be able
to release negative energy simply by breathing deep. Not only does this help in our
exercises, but you can carry this over in to your every day life, as well.
Deep breathing is an empowering tool for health and happiness once you have
mastered it. This is, in part, because it gives you greater control of your emotions and,
consequently, your actions. Imagine how great you will feel when, after all these years
you can calm yourself down at will simply by taking a few deep breaths. Won’t it be
wonderful? Finally, things that used to anger you or upset you to the point of tears
will be as easy to handle as counting to four. Breathe in. One, two, three, four. Hold it.
Breathe out. One, two, three, four. So, are you ready to start? Okay. Just breathe.
