Page 155 - Creeative Thinking
P. 155
When attempting to avoid an argument, keep in mind these points:
The truth IS. Nobody can change it.
There are many sides to every story.
Everyone has a unique perspective.
Arguing creates negativity.
The only person you can change is you.
So, if you can’t change the truth and you can’t change anyone else, does it make any
sense to argue when all that does is create negativity? Not really.
There are certain situations in which we feel strongly about an issue and wish to share
our perspective with others. Also, situations in which we feel our personality or a
loved one is under attack make us defensive and ready to fight.
As well, sometimes we just want someone to say: “Yes you are right“, even if we
already know we are. So, there are bound to be some times when you just can not
resist the urge to stand up for what you believe in. In these instances, try weighing the
pros and cons to see if the positives outweigh the negativity created by arguing your
point.
If you sometimes find, as I do, that you have trouble biting your tongue when faced
with a tempting debate remember this; THE TRUTH IS. Period. You can argue until
you are blue in the face, but the truth remains the same. You can stomp your feet and
jump up and down, but the truth remains the same. You can kick and scratch and
bite, or perform circus tricks, but alas, the truth remains the same. So, since you can
never change the truth and it is a rare occasion when you change someone’s mind, it
helps to remember one thing. That is the truth.
Remember that the truth IS. Always. It does not change. It forever remains the truth.
Once you have come to accept this fact, you will be better able to deal with all manner
of arguments, lies and the like. When you find that slanderous gossip is being spread
bout you or a loved one, remember the truth. Take comfort in the fact that you know
the truth and the people who love you know it, too.
The next time your boss is wrong and you just can’t persuade him to see things your
way, keep in mind the truth. Take comfort in the fact that the truth is. It will never
change. Even if your boss’ perspective of it changes, the truth remains the same.
