One thing that helps me a great deal in my day-to-day living is to always remember the
truth. At certain times in one’s life it is wiser and just plain easier not to argue. For
various reasons such as not wanting to create a rift between yourself and your boss, it
is enough to know the truth. That simple realisation will allow you to be RIGHT if
you need to be without the added tension and negativity caused by arguing.
So, the next time you are having dinner with your parents and your mother insists,
“You used to love my ‘tuna casserole supreme’, dear”, do not bother arguing with
her. Take comfort in the truth. You know that you have always detested tuna and
that truth will never change even if your mother’s perception of it has. Simply smile at
your Mom and say “Gee Mom, I guess it’s just not one of my favourite foods
anymore.” And eat it quietly. All the while, remembering THE TRUTH.
Hopefully, by now you have succeeded in eliminating a large part of the needless
worry from your life. If this has not happened as yet, keep working on it. And don’t
worry (pardon the pun). That too, will come in time. So just try to be patient.
At this point in your journey, you should be a little more assertive and, hopefully
feeling much better about all aspects of your life. As well, you should be well on your
way toward ridding yourself of any regrets that you may have been harbouring.
