A fraction is a number that stands for a part or parts of a whole object or a
collection of objects.
ONE WHOLE
Here are some examples of a whole.

When we divide an object into two equal parts, each part is called one-half of

the whole object. We write one-half as and read it as one by two or one

Iqbal and Zoya came home from school. They found only
one apple to eat. So, their mother cut the apple in two
equal parts and gave one part to each to eat. We can 1 WHOLE APPLE
say that she gave one-half of the apple to each.
