A surprise meeting
He was one of the most remarkable people I’ve ever known, and I'm grateful he was a part of my life.
The morning of that day, I woke up with my hands and feet shivering in my blanket. As I opened the
curtains of my window, a sea of snow greeted me. Little snowflakes that stuck on the glass looked like a
piece of art.
I went downstairs to check on my family, but they were all busy on their phones. After breakfast, I told my
mother that I was going outside for some fresh air, and I left the house. My cheeks and nose turned red
within a few minutes of walking outside. I bought a chocolate croissant from the bakery down the block
and ate it while admiring the gorgeous ice crystals in the snow. Later, I went to a nearby public park, and
guess who I met there? My grandpa! He was sitting alone on a bench, taking in the view of the snow and
ice blanketing the area. I sat next to him and struck up a conversation. It was very surprising to meet him
there, but I was glad to see him. He described how I acted as a toddler, and how he used to babysit me
when my parents were busy. Listening to him talk about all of those things brought back memories I'd
forgotten I had. I remember I used to be so excited when my grandfather agreed to play with the dolls
with me. We talked for hours upon hours. The snow falling, and little particles of ice, made this meeting
more memorable than ever.
He walked me home and I gave him one last hug
. That was the very last time I saw him. If I knew that, I would have thanked him for everything he had ever
done for me and for being the best grandpa ever.
