YELLOW BELT & BLUE BELT ORIENTATION
Yellow Belt Orientation Script Points
1. Congratulations on taking your first major step towards Black Belt!
2. Start attending Yellow Belt Class.
a. Family Low Belt Class attendees remain the same.
b. Class will be combined Yellow AND Green on Saturdays.
3. Please begin bringing your safety gear to every class.
a. Once you’ve received your gear package and if everything fits properly, write your
name in permanent ink on EVERYTHING.
b. Before class, wear your leg pads and place your belongings neatly in the locker
room or leave them with your parents (if they are watching class).
c. FULL sparring gear is only needed for sparring class, which you are eligible for
now. Participation in sparring class is encouraged but remains optional.
4. Tip Progress works differently in Yellow Belt.
a. Each week will be a “theme week”, alternating between forms and one-step
sparring.
b. There is only one tip for form (white tip).
5. Please be reminded that for those of you who have not made the commitment to our
Black Belt Program, please set up an appointment to do a free upgrade if you wish.
THANK YOU AND AGAIN, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!
Blue Belt Orientation Script Points
1. Congratulations and well done!
2. Blue Belt begins the next level up and you will notice a difference.
a. Expectations will be higher with respect to focus, effort, and technical detail.
b. You will encounter some of the most challenging and exciting requirements to learn
3. It will take longer. The minimum is 3 months, but the majority take 4 to 5 months belt
to belt. This also means earning tips will take longer.
4. Kids will need to be patient, while we ask parents to be supportive and encouraging.
You can do it, just like so many others have.
5. Progressing through this level will be tremendously meaningful, and there will be a big
boost to your confidence and skill on the way to earning your Black Belt.
6. Your instructors are always here to help and to answer any questions you have.
7. Let’s work together (students, parents, and instructors) to make this a rewarding stage
on the journey. Again, congratulations on your achievement!
