Technology Has Made Teachers Obsolete

                                                               Blog 3

As I mentioned in my previous blog, teachers, thanks to technology, are becoming

obsolete. For all intents and purposes, teachers are just a guide at the moment. Nothing more

than a hall monitor moving you to your next class. Everything you are going to need to learn in

grade school, high school and I say even college, can be learned without the need of a teacher.

You want to be an expert at Math? Watch YouTube. You want to become an Information

Technology expert? Watch YouTube. You want to be a doctor? Watch You Tube. I am not

kidding. If you want to become an unlicensed family practitioner, you can find You Tube videos

that will guide you through the process to becoming a doctor, nurse, and engineer. Now, if you

want to actually practice what you have learned, you will need to spend tens of thousands of

dollars at a college to get a piece of paper that tells others that you can do what you already can

               do.

Now some will say that the death of the classroom teacher has been greatly exaggerated,

and in some cases this is true. I will now declare that teachers in the special needs area are, for

now, safe. And probably for now, Preschool through third grade are safe, for now. Technology

has long been seen as undermining the traditional teachers’ role. Teachers continue to fight

technology for the students’ attention. And teachers continue to lose this fight.

Computers are a more effective teacher than most teachers today. Computers do not lose

patience. Computers do not need a summer break. Computers are available twenty-four-seven,

three hundred sixty-five days a year. Computers don’t get old, well technically they do, but they

are also upgradeable and can be made even better. Computers can answer any question.
