University of Huddersfield

Students from Year 9 visited The University of
Huddersfield as part of their CEIAG programme of
activities. The students received a presentation
about University life, explored the range of courses
that can be studied at university, undertook a tour
of the Campus and participated in a question and
answer session with current students.

2 Universities, 2 contrasting architecture styles
but both with the same educational ethos.

Last month saw some exciting trips for KS3 students with Year 7 Brilliant Club Students visiting the University of Sheffield
and Waterhead Academy’s amazing debate team heading to the Debate Mate Cup final at the University of Manchester!

In Sheffield, Brilliant Club students got a tour of the University, an opportunity to meet current students and ask questions
and took part in a tutorial of their own. The work done is now continuing in school. A Year 7 student said “ I’ve had a great
day, we all enjoyed it so much and it’s made me excited to go to University in the future and work hard to get there”

In Manchester, the Debate Team did the Academy proud and although they did not win, they were commended by the judges
for speaking with pride and power. They truly were a credit to the school.
