CAPE JERVIS JETTY FISHING - SATURDAY, 5 AUGUST

Heading back to begin filleting. Texted Martina so the kettle will be on when I arrive. Some
huge Tommies and Salmon Trout. Quite aggressive. Had the place to myself because of the
fear. All a big con job. The rain wasn't too bad and of course the wind dropped off. Bloody
good fishing, though the batteries in my headlamp died. Good thing I carry spares. More
double headers than I ever remember. And for once the majority really liked the " special
bait ". If we go to Wirrina I will have some fillets for snapper bait. And caught two KGW,
               around 35cm.

Good night, and goodbye, Long drive..............................Parksy

                                                                      TH
                O’SULLIVAN BEACH – TUESDAY , 8 AUGUST

 A cool and windy start to the morning launching about 9.15am
 ½ metre very choppy swell with a NNW blowing hard and creating a
                       significant chop
 We headed straight out to the Barges to try for a snapper or two
 Unpleasant swell – one other boat on the Barges – they left after about 45
                       minutes of our arrival
 With Uncle Sydney’s help, I demonstrated how to unhook my trapped anchor
from the Barge structure – Uncle Sydney insisted on several ‘replays’ so we
stayed tied up to the Barge for about 45 minutes.
 Finally I pulled out all the anchor rope and tied off a buoy and released the lot
 We drove around and picked up the Buoy at the back of the boat – looped it
over the tie off post and gently pulled on the anchor until the cable tie broke
                       and released the anchor
 We did lose a few baits possibly to ruggers, small leather jackets or baby
                       flathead
 Time to call it a morning after about 13/4 hours of battling the elements
 The Breeze stood up to the conditions well and we emptied a fair amount of
water at the ramp through the plugs at the rear of the boat
 Safe and sound we ‘retired’ to the potato patch at Moana and shared a
welcome cup of coffee with Spud Murphy (Spud did see us off at the ramp
some 2 hours earlier but was smart enough not launch himself)
 We divided the catch evenly between us and headed back to the safety of our
                       villas in Eastern Adelaide
 The weather was far worse than the weather graph indicated – only 3 trailers
in the car park is an indication of the adverse conditions

                    Until next time …… NICK W.
