In the first half of the 20
century, health care focused on
disease.
Recently the health care providers recognized that preventing illness is
more effective than coping with an already existing illness, so
encourage health promotion and disease prevention strategies focus on
keeping people well and preventing diseases from occurring.
Health promotion is the science and art of helping people change their
lifestyle to move toward a state of optimal health. Optimal health is defined
as a balance of physical, emotion, social, spiritual and intellectual health.

According to the World Health Organization, Health promotion is the
process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve
their health.
