Love, peace, and joy are the rules I
run on. In 2018, I started cross-
country running. Initially, I really
didn’t think I could do it, but I kept
trying. In the end, I won a trophy
for my efforts, a trophy I never
thought I could obtain because of
how I felt at the beginning. Howev-
er, Philippians 4:13 tells us that we
can do all things through Christ Je-
sus. The most important lesson I
learned was this: When it gets hard,
I have to keep going. Because I
kept going, I can now share my story
of triumph with others, encouraging
and uplifting them when they have
reservations like I did when I start-
ed. My issue was not about winning
the race. It was about being a part
of the race. Now, I am looking for-
ward to racing, not for the race it-
self but to help other newcomers
who may feel like I felt getting into
the race.
