Group 12: Interactive Scenarios

              54. Vehicle Positioning

“I’m headed north for a camping trip in my 2008 Envoy. I’ve got a couple of bicycles on the
back end and a canoe on top, but my navigation system is showing the wrong location.
This isn’t so bad down here where I know my way around but when I get up North where I
could get lost this could be a problem. What’s the deal?””
The agent should search for the 2008 GMC Envoy manual and go to Features and
Controls > Global Positioning System (GPS)> Vehicle Positioning.
The answer is: There isn’t an easy solution for the customer. He probably doesn’t want to
take the roof rack off and leave the canoe by the side of the road.
At times, the position of the vehicle on the map may be inaccurate due to one or more of
                 the following reasons:
                 • A roof carrier is installed on your vehicle.

              55. 12Hr/24Hr Time
“I just got out of the Army and bought a 2006 Rainier. I would like to set the clock to show
military time if it can. Is this possible?”

The agent should search for the 2006 Buick Rainier manual and go to Features and
                 Controls >Configure Menu > Clock
The answer is: “12Hr/24Hr. This feature allows you to choose whether the time is
displayed in standard or military time. Touch the 12Hr screen button for standard time or
the 24Hr screen button for military time.”

              56. Off-Road Mode
“I’m about to take off across Death Valley in my 2007 Tahoe. I think I have enough of
everything, particularly water. But I’m a little worried about getting lost out there. Is there
anything my navigation system can do to help? I mean there aren’t any roads or anything.”

The agent should search for the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe manual and go to Navigation
                 Audio System > Off-Road Mode
The answer is: It can keep track of your path so you can retrace it if necessary

“To turn the Off-Road Mode on or off, do the following:
                 1. Press the MENU key.
                 2. Press the Nav screen button.
                 3. Press the # Off-Road Mode ON or OFF screen buttons.
The active button will be highlighted. When the off-road mode is turned on, the navigation
system will show the path being traveled by the vehicle when not on a marked road. This
path will be a simulation since the map database coverage will not have these roads on
the DVD. This path will be stored in the navigation system’s memory.”

                                                                                                                      Page96
