(2) Rural Hospitals - These include sub-district hospitals called Subdivisional/
      Taluk/Speciality Hospitals. There are around 2000 such hospitals in our
      country.
(3) Speciality and teaching hospitals - These include the Medical Colleges
      (around 200 in our country), and other tertiary referral centres.
(4) There are several other hospitals and dispensaries of Railways, Defence,
      ports, mines etc, which are also funded by Government , but are often
      restricted for their employees

(B) Private Health Sector - India has a very large and heterogeneous Private
      Sector. They comprise of voluntary, non profit, corporate, trusts, solo-
      practitioners, stand alone specialist services, diagnostic laboratories, pharmacy
      shops, and also quacks (unqualified practitioners), each addressing different
      market segments.

Nearly 70% of the Allopathic doctors practice in the private sector. Private health
expenditure accounts for more than 75% of all health spending in India. It accounts
for 82% of all outpatients visits and 52% of hospitalization at all India level.
